Protecting Women, Families, and Freedom
Women leaders, reproductive freedom advocates, caregivers, families, healthcare providers, survivors, workers, and voters committed to constitutional equality often ask candidates where they stand on abortion access, contraception, medication abortion, miscarriage and emergency care, the Equal Rights Amendment, pay equity, childcare, paid leave, and women’s economic security. Voters deserve the same transparency. Here is where I stand.
Why This Matters
Women’s rights are not a side issue. They shape healthcare, family economics, safety, workplace fairness, equal pay, constitutional protections, and whether government respects personal freedom.

In Congress, decisions about reproductive care, contraception, childcare, pay equity, paid leave, Social Security, Medicare, housing, and the Equal Rights Amendment affect real families in every part of FL-12.

Why This Matters to Me
My understanding of women’s rights is professional, personal, and rooted in public service. For more than three decades as a Certified Financial Planner, I helped working women, seniors, widows, caregivers, and families navigate economic and healthcare insecurity.
I also spent 22 years advocating for my brain-injured son across healthcare and social-service systems until he passed away in 2023, and I am now raising my grandson. Those experiences taught me that families do not get a second chance when government fails.
Those experiences taught me that access to healthcare is not simply a policy debate. It determines whether families remain stable, whether caregivers can continue working, whether women can make decisions about their own health, and whether a medical crisis destroys a lifetime of financial security.
Equal rights, reproductive freedom, affordable care, paid leave, childcare, and economic security are not abstract ideas. They determine whether families can survive crisis, recover, and build a stable life.
My Record
As a Hillsborough County Commissioner and Board Chair, I worked on affordable housing, public health, transportation, environmental protection, anti-human trafficking initiatives, systemic inequities, and community investments.
I chaired the Affordable Housing Advisory Board, chaired the Commission on Human Trafficking, passed the Tenant Bill of Rights, and worked to expand access to affordable housing.
My public service and professional experience shaped my commitment to reproductive freedom, economic justice, survivor protection, constitutional equality, and policies that support women and families.
My Position on Reproductive Freedom
I believe reproductive freedom must be protected. I support codifying Roe v. Wade, protecting abortion access, protecting access to contraception, protecting FDA-approved medication abortion, protecting emergency contraception without delay, opposing waiting periods and parental notification requirements that create barriers to care, and supporting public funding for family planning and abortion services.
Reproductive healthcare should be accessible within every state and territory and should never require people to travel across state lines.
Medication Abortion, Contraception, and Emergency Care
I support access to FDA-approved medication abortion, including mifepristone and misoprostol, without delay or obstruction. I support access to affordable contraception and emergency contraception.
Healthcare decisions should be made by patients in consultation with medical providers, not by politicians seeking to restrict care.
The Equal Rights Amendment and Constitutional Equality
I support the Equal Rights Amendment and will vote in support of resolutions affirming the ERA as valid after fulfilling the requirements of Article V of the U.S. Constitution.
Equality should not depend on shifting politics or courts. Equal rights should be explicit, durable, and enforceable in the Constitution.

Economic Security for Women and Families
Women’s economic security also depends on access to affordable housing, reliable transportation, healthcare access, childcare, and caregiver supports. Barriers in any of those areas can compound financial instability for women and families.
Women’s equality also requires economic security. I support pay equity, livable wages, paid family and medical leave, paid sick days, affordable childcare, dependent care, workplace discrimination protections, financial literacy, Social Security and Medicare protection, and housing affordability.
Economic justice, reproductive freedom, racial justice, LGBTQ+ equality, and constitutional equality are connected.
Ending Violence Against Women
I support strengthening protections for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, rape, human trafficking, hate crimes based on gender or gender identity, and gun violence.
As County Commissioner, I chaired the Commission on Human Trafficking, working to protect women and vulnerable people from exploitation and violence. I support strengthening VAWA protections, expanding resources for survivors, strengthening hate-crime protections, and common-sense gun safety reforms that reduce violence against women and communities.
Childcare, Paid Leave, and Caregiving
No worker should have to choose between caring for a loved one and keeping a paycheck. I support national paid family and medical leave, paid sick days, affordable childcare, stronger caregiver supports, and protections for childcare workers.
Childcare and dependent care are economic infrastructure. They allow parents and caregivers to work, train, study, and build financial security.
Detailed FL-12 Examples
A woman experiencing pregnancy complications should receive timely, evidence-based care without political interference.
A survivor of domestic violence should be able to seek help without fearing that a firearm will turn abuse into a fatal crisis.
A caregiver may need paid leave, affordable healthcare, childcare, and workplace flexibility to care for family while remaining financially stable.
A working mother may need affordable childcare to return to work, complete training, or accept a promotion.
A senior woman living alone may rely on Social Security, Medicare, housing stability, and protection from financial exploitation.
A student or young worker should have equal opportunity, protection from discrimination, and accurate reproductive health information.
Evidence-Based Women’s Rights and Reproductive Freedom Scorecard
Policy should be measured by whether it protects freedom, safety, health, economic security, and equality.
Metrics should include reproductive healthcare access, contraception access, maternal-health outcomes, pay equity, childcare affordability, paid leave availability, survivor-support access, discrimination claims and enforcement, housing stability, and protection from violence.
The central test is simple: Can women and families make private healthcare decisions, live safely, work with dignity, access care, and receive equal protection under the law?
How I Would Lead in Congress
I will fight for reproductive freedom, constitutional equality, equal pay, affordable childcare, paid leave, protections against gender-based violence, and policies that make it possible for women and families to thrive.
I will support the ERA, codify reproductive freedom, defend access to contraception and medication abortion, strengthen survivor protections, and pursue economic policies that allow families to live with dignity.
Why This Matters in FL-12
Families in Pasco and Hillsborough Counties deserve leaders who understand that reproductive freedom, economic security, safety, healthcare, housing, childcare, and constitutional equality are connected.
Florida’s 12th Congressional District deserves a representative who understands our communities because she has lived, worked, and served here. Leadership Matters.
